System Design

The design of our system is much like an ordinary hydraulic system.  It is an open-loop system where the diesel engine powers the hydraulic pump by inputting work.  The pump sends hydraulic fluid to the motor, which outputs work.  The fluid from the hydraulic motor passes through a filter, which is then displaced into the reservoir where it is cooled and any dirty particles are removed.  After this process, the cycle begins again.  Where our system differs from the contemporary layout is in the control system.  The performance characteristics are sent to the BASIC stamp, where the program language will signal to the swashplate control how the pump should be altered to optimize performance.  This unique addition will help the system maintain maximum efficiency while in use.
